§ Windows note

About the
security prompt.

We're a small indie studio, not Microsoft. Windows has a built-in protection called SmartScreen that warns about apps it hasn't seen before — including ours. It's safe to continue. Here's the flow:

  1. 1
    Open the .exe
Windows shows a blue full-screen dialog: "Windows protected your PC." Don't click "Don't run".
  2. 2
    Click "More info"
Easy to miss — it's a small text link in the top-left of the dialog, just under the heading.
  3. 3
    Click "Run anyway"
A new button appears at the bottom. Click it and the installer runs normally.
  4. 4
    One-time only
After this, Windows remembers your decision — Nori opens normally on every future launch, and auto-updates arrive in the background without prompts.
Why isn't it signed yet? Microsoft's Trusted Signing programme has restrictions for small EU sole proprietorships — we're working on getting a certificate via a European authority instead. The warning is a SmartScreen reputation thing, not a security flaw. Auto-updates from inside Nori will start delivering signed builds the moment our certificate arrives, with no action needed on your side.
